New furnishings for Spring
The new furnishings for spring may be soft and romantic or infused with brilliant colour, but everything in our selection is inspired by the past, says Maggie Stevenson.
Smaller than most industrial lamps, the Louis tarnished silver pendant light is 18cm high and 20cm in diameter, £128, Rowen & Wren.
Designed for the conservatory, the wrought iron Vichy table would look pretty in a bedroom or sitting room, £95 from Conservatory Interiors By Vale.
The fretwork doors on this vintage-look armoire are old shutters. The cabinet, W47.5cm x H125cm, is £1,200 from a range of antique and recycled furniture at Pale & Interesting.
Emmeline, a rose pattern on a yellow or grey ground, is from Annie Sloan’s collection of furnishing fabrics, designed to go with her flat matt chalk paints. Printed on a cotton/linen mix fabric, it is £19.90 per m.
Oka’s Duck Egg china has an irregular shape and glaze, like studio pottery. The dinner plate is £15 and the bowl, £13. Shown here with a Vortex side plate, £7, and Ivory knife and fork, £65 for a 24-piece set.
Handmade to order from English oak, the gothic larder is a distinctive feature for an unfitted kitchen. It measures W170cm x D50cm x H225cm and costs £3,500 from Warren Cabinets.
New from Fired Earth, the Ottoman Collection of wallpapers features three dramatic large scale designs including Alhambra Palace in turquoise, red or grey colourways, £50 per roll.
This button-backed tub chair from The Velvet Chair Company in eight jewel-like colours, including the turquoise shown here, is £385 from Oliver Bonas.
Made from porcelain in a classic shape, the Lover vase, £13 by Nina Campbell, is 13cm high and comes in five pastel colours. Use it alone, in a group or ranged in a row along a windowsill or mantelpiece.
Perfect for storing bulky items, this tin trunk is available in teal, lemon (shown here) and silver, and in small, W25cm x H19cm x L40.5cm, £49; medium, W33cm x H22.5cm x L48.5cm, £69; and large, W41cm x H26.5cm x L56cm, £89 from Toast.
