August
It was a momentous month! The Brick Layers completed their work on the extension and the roof timbers were put in place.
For the first time we could see the lines of the building and the crooked single storey roof.
A number of people slow down as they drive past to look at the quirky roof lines!

Progress in August
-
Extension
- The second storey brickwork was completed
- Roof purlings were finished and lifted onto the brick work
- The gables and chimney were bricked up and the chimney pot installed
- The roof timbers are on, ready for the waterproof membrane, insulation and tiles.
Others
- Started to cut the openings for the new windows in the existing building. New brick ends are being installed so the cut don’t look too sharp….to make it look like the windows have always been there.
- The bedroom in the existing building has been plaster boarded and plastered
- Plaster boarding has started in the upstairs bathroom
September
Things have slowed down slightly now that the builders have left but still making good progress. The double storey extension roof is finished and we have started working on the single storey roof. The intension is to complete the roof work and install the windows and doors by end of October.

Alison Moses and her partner are currently renovating an 18th century Lock Cottage in Staffordshire.
Currently the property has been stripped out, back to the orginal brick and they are waiting for planning permission before starting the extension. They intend on putting as much of the original features back into the property as possible and have already taken the ceiling down to reveal the old purlings.
Alison and her partner will be completing most of the renovation work themselves and expect this to take a year to 18 months before completion.
