Where can we find a bespoke bath?

We want to buy a roll-top bath but we need to be able to have it in a specific colour. Should we find the bath we want and paint it ourselves, or could we provide the paint and have the manufacturer do it for us?

Katharine Clemow replies: As bathrooms have become more important in all our homes, manufacturers have been keeping up with ways to make the whole room more individual including supplying baths that can be painted in the colour of your choice. All Aston Matthews (020 7226 7220; astonmatthews.co.uk) cast-iron free-standing baths are sold with unfinished exteriors so they can be painted the colour you choose. Drummonds (020 7376 4499; drummonds-uk.com) baths can now be supplied hand-painted from the factory in any colour and finish from matt to gloss. Just supply the name of the paint manufacturer and the colour reference and they will finish to order.
